New Technology Platform to Meet Growing Global Demand for Bioanalysis
ZyGEM’s integrated microfluidics-based technology system, called the Microlab Platform, has the potential to revolutionize DNA testing where accuracy, speed, ease-of-use and accessibility are critical. The system, which includes hardward plus consumables, was developed by combining ZyGEM's patented reagent technologies with Microlab's “Lab-on-a-Chip” platform.
Transformational Technology
The goal of the DNA analysis device is to transform today’s complex DNA identification process from one that takes a great deal of training, sophisticated equipment and days or weeks to complete, into an affordable, rapid on-site process. It combines advanced microfluidic research and ZyGEM’s unique technology to accelerate the DNA identification process—essentially building a laboratory on a small, single chip that dramatically reduces the processing steps and time needed for analysis.
This transformational technology combines three processes, which currently requires the use of three instruments and takes up to 10 hours, into a single, small and easy-to-use device which requires less than 1 hour.
The system is currently in development at ZyGEM’s MicroLab laboratories with a Beta version expected to be released for testing in select laboratories later in 2011.
