DNA extracted from blood can present problems for many downstream PCR applications because of the inhibitors generated by the lysis and degradation of red blood cells . At ZyGEM we have developed optimized methods for the extraction of blood that overcome this problem in low sample-volume, high throughput preparations.
Methods have been optimized for extracting DNA from liquid human or animal blood, with or without EDTA storage, or from blood spotted onto FTA storage cards. ESR NZ, one of the largest forensic laboratories in the world has validated and implemented the ZyGEM technology for processing blood samples stored on FTA paper for use with the highly demanding ABI AmpFlSTR® Identifiler® PCR Amplification Kit
