PrepGEM™ PRODUCT OVERVIEW
prepGEM™ is been formulated for high-throughput DNA extraction from animal tissue samples. The prepGEM™ kits contain reagents that have been optimized for downstream, PCR-based applications including STR's, SNiPs, DNA sequencing, RFLP analysis etc.
The availability of simple DNA sample preparation methods is becoming increasingly important in fast-paced research settings, as the use of nucleic acid-based analyses continues to expand rapidly. ZyGEM’s
prepGEM™ DNA extraction technology, based on our proprietary EA1 enzyme, can extract high quality DNA from a broad range of sample materials in less than 20 minutes.
The extracted DNA can be used directly with analytical platforms based on PCR, quantitative PCR or capillary electrophoresis. Unlike most DNA preparation methods that require multiple steps and special handling, which increase the risk of error or contamination, ZyGEM’s DNA extraction technology uses a single tube and a simple two-step temperature cycle to prepare DNA for analysis, greatly reducing sample preparation time and the risk of sample contamination.
All prepGEM™ kits are formulated and QCed for animal testing, biosecurity and R&D applications.

PRODUCT LIST
- This kit is optimized for liquid animal blood and EDTA-stabilized blood. A 30 minute incubation followed by a short spin to precipitate debris gives you DNA suitable for all PCR applications.
- Formulated for animal blood on FTA cards, FTA Elute and other storage papers. DNA is obtained in a hands-off reaction in 30 minutes.
- Suitable for whole insects, spiders mites or parts and is capable of extracting quality DNA from dried specimens.
- The prepGEM™ Tissue kit is optimized for all types of animal tissue including ear tags, rat tails, fish tails, meat, fish and fat. The DNA is suitable for genotyping and sequencing and so can be used for animal genotyping, pedigree analysis and food testing.
