forensicGEM™ PRODUCT OVERVIEW
forensicGEM™ has been formulated for high-throughput DNA extraction from crime samples. The forensicGEM™ kits have been specifically designed to be compatible with high-multiplex STR profiling kits and all reagents are rigorously Quality Controlled to test for efficacy and for the absence of human DNA.
ZyGEM technology is ideally suited to the large-scale batch processing of reference samples for forensic analysis. Validated by ESR New Zealand, one of the largest forensics laboratories in the world, forensicGEM™ is a rapid, high throughput processing technology for storage card and buccal swab reference samples.
ZyGEM also offers a comprehensive range of optimized kits for the preparation of crime scene and CODIS samples.
All forensicGEM™ kits are rigorously tested at a leading forensic laboratory for efficacy and purity. The basis of all of the kits is the forensicGEM™ proteinase, but special formulations have been developed for different substrates

PRODUCT LIST
Capable of extracting DNA from fresh liquid blood (fingerpricks), bloodstains on a range of surfaces, EDTA, Citrate and Heparin stabilized blood. The method is quick and closed tube with a simple heat cycle and short centrifugation to sediment debris.
Specifically formulated for saliva stains and buccal swabs. This fully automatable method proves DNA in 20 minutes that is suitable for all forensic profiling method.
Tissue, skin and hair follicles. Extraction in 20 minutes to a quality capable of providing excellent results from all forensic profiling kits.
forensicGEM™ Storage Card Saliva
This kit extracts DNA from all tested storage cards and its effectiveness at removing nucleoproteins generated DNA of exceptional quality for downstream profiling. Typically FTA cards require a pre-wash step to remove the inhibitors impregnated in the card but the method is simple and easy automated.
forensicGEM™ Storage Card Blood
This kit is specifically formulated for blood on FTA cards with buffers optimized to minimize inhibition from haem and blood proteins. Typically FTA cards require a pre-wash step to remove the inhibitors impregnated in the card but all methods is simple and easy automated.
Careful optimization of the forensicGEM™ Saliva method has allowed us to generate buffers and methods that gently release DNA from cigarette butts while leaving the tars, phenolics and other inhibitors behind.
