APPLICATIONS: ANIMAL LIVESTOCK
The simplicity, cost effectiveness and ease of automation of prepGEM™ make it especially suitable for use in livestock applications.
Livestock diagnostic testing, including paternity testing, meat quality marker and pathogen resistance diagnostics is of growing interest to farmers who are focused on achieving the top performance from their stock.
Until now, the logistics of sample management and the need for robust, dependable assays in this commercially demanding industry have presented barriers to the broad application of these diagnostic technologies.
In combination with the ZeeTag™ ear tag sampling product, ZyGEM technology enables closed tube sample collection and DNA extraction, from stock yard to lab. PCR-based assays are generally performed on the prepared sample, typically with a highly multiplexed assay for maximum information.
ZyGEM products have been successfully used for the processing of beef, deer and sheep samples, as well as for veterinary use with domestic pets, such as dogs, as well as with more exotic livestock species such as llama.
