APPLICATIONS: BIOFUELS
Interest in biofuels has increased dramatically in recent years. A major technical challenge in the field is converting biomass energy into useable liquid fuels. Enzymes can play a major role in addressing this challenge. The ZyGEM culture collection initially focused on the discovery of enzymes for these types of processes and therefore contains enzymes particularly suited to energy conversion, including cellulases, hemicellulases and lipases.
