

Mark J. Ahn, Ph.D.

The Chairman of ZyGEM’s newly formed Clinical Advisory Board, Dr. Mark Ahn, is Professor and Chair, Science & Technology Entrepreneurship with a joint appointment from the faculties of Commerce & Administration and Science at Victoria University of Wellington. Prior to joining the university, Mark was founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Hana Biosciences. Prior to Hana, he served as Vice President, Hematology and corporate officer at Genentech. Previously, he held a series of positions of increasing responsibility at Amgen and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Mark also serves on the Boards of Directors of RXi Pharmaceuticals and Access Pharmaceuticals. He received B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from Chaminade University of Honolulu and holds a Ph.D. from the University of South Australia.
Collette Bromhead, Ph.D.

Dr. Collette Bromhead obtained her Ph.D. in 2004 from Victoria University of Wellington and is a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist. She is head of the Department for Molecular Biology at Aotea Pathology Ltd, a community laboratory in Wellington, New Zealand. Collette additionally provides molecular diagnostics expertise to the New Zealand Ministry of Health, the National Cervical Screening Programme, Victoria University of Wellington, Environmental Science and Research and the Women’s Health Research Centre at Otago University. This work has led to the development of novel molecular assays for the detection of sexually transmitted infections, as well as their use in characterising the burden of these organisms in New Zealand.
Howard Clentworth

Howard is currently employed by Capital Coast Health to provide Gynecologic Oncology services and by Hutt Valley Health. He is a clinical Lecturer at the University of Otago, is the Chairman of Boulcott Hospital and is a member of the Specialist Council of the New Zealand Medical Association. He holds board positions at Medical Assurance Society and Medical Securities. In 1976 he was awarded the New Zealand Obstetric and Gynecology traveling Fellowship and completed studies in Melbourne and Leicester. His main areas of interest include Gynecologic Oncology and screening and prevention strategies.

Dr. Jay Say is a Senior Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine incorporated in the Royal Australian College of Physicians. She has continued full time work in Sexual Health from 1984 to the present day having been Head of Department at Auckland Hospital Sexual Health Service for 10 years. She also does medical forensic work for the Auckland Police and is Advisor to the Crown Solicitor in STI associated with Sexual Assault Medicine in adults and children. She has worked in private practice for 12 years and is at Gladstone Clinic at present. She is on the Executive of the International Union (Asia/Pacific) for the Study of Sexually Transmitted Infections, Honorary Member of the New Zealand Society of Sexual Health, and Doctors for Sexual Abuse Care. She has held numerous appointments on professional bodies, reviewed papers for national and international journals and published particularly on Sexual Health Medicine. Dr. Patricia Janet Say qualified from the Royal Free Hospital, London in Medicine with Honours in Pathology in 1967, completed her post graduate training in Microbiology at the Middlesex Hospital and University of Nairobi and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists. She was Clinical Microbiologist at Auckland Hospital in 1975 and in 1978 worked part time in what is now called the Sexual Health Service.
Anthony Roberton, Ph.D.

Dr. Anthony Roberton is Associate Professor in the School of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, the University of Auckland, New Zealand. His research interests include the biochemistry of anaerobic and microaerophilic bacteria, the biochemistry and genetics of gastrointestinal mucins (mucous glycoproteins), the enzymology of mucin degradation by the colonic microflora, and the enzymology and composition of the bacteria microflora associated with bacterial vaginosis. Tony is the author of about 80 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, and of several book chapters. He completed his undergraduate and doctoral degrees at Oxford University in the U.K.
